Born in Newark New Jersey in 1930, Jerome Schapiro was President of Dixo Company, Inc. a supplier of dry-cleaning products. An expert on textile chemistry he was a member of AATCC and ASTM and was one of two experts named in the FTC Care Label rule for textiles. He was also active in the International Standards organization, working on their sub-committees dealing with laundering and color-fastness. He died on October 30, 2007.Franklin J.
